Welcome to Mending Life

Mental Health Coaching, Marriage Mentoring, & Pastoral Care
Mending is about putting things together or rearranging them. No one escapes trouble in life. Whether dealing with grief over loss, learning to listen well, adapting to change, desiring to stop or start a new behavior, taming harmful responses, or reframing traumatic experiences, we all need help. At Mending Life, we focus on a brief therapy model that addresses three simple questions and discoveries:
- Where are you in life now and how did you get here?
- What is it you don’t like about it?
- Where would you like to be next week, next month, or in five years?

The Biggest Indicator for Successful Change
Willingness.
Willingness accepts responsibility. It assesses how much pain it can endure. It makes decisions based on the long term. It is resistant to voices shouting, “You can’t!” It is resilient (bounces back) and gets back on track after facing trouble. It looks at trials from a grit-perspective, knowing that difficulty presents opportunity for growth. It can be vulnerable when needed. It is open to new ideas. It gives in and gives back rather than gives up. It is kind to itself and can learn to be kind to others.
